BEAUTY POST| GIVENCHY IRRESISTBLE NECTAR EAU DE PARFUM, A GOURMAND TWIST TO A CULT CLASSIC
One thing I have learned to love and appreciate about my journey with perfumes, scents, and fragrances is how one perfume can change my out look on a note for the better. I have never been a lover of rose or heavily floral fragrances. They always reminded me of old age and my grandma. I loved her dearly, may she continue to rest in paradise, but as I played in her perfume collection it felt apparent that perfume was for older women, Whenever I would try and mix and match different bottles to create my own version, I would get made fun of or told I stank by the adults in the the other room. By the time I hit high school, I was convinced I would never find a perfume I truly loved or that would suit my age and spirit so I stuck to body sprays for the longest time. Then COVID hit and we were all stuck in our homes watching everyone post abut their favorite or least favorite products, and my love for perfume and finding ones I truly liked blossomed. I said all that to express the true disdain I had for florals, specifically rose. Childhood trauma is a BIH!
Givenchy is a household name in many homes and the Irresistible collection is known by many. My mother had one, I wish i could remember which it was, and I used to sneak and spray it before class. The notes for this fragrance really intrigued me as I am currently obsessed with pistachio. So I was very excited to see the notes list but still pretty hesitant. Top notes are neroli, middle notes are glazed rose and rose petals, and base notes are pistachio, cream, woody notes, and vanilla. On first spritz or spray, you get a strong rose, woody and neroli which can present as very floral heavy and fresh. You can smell a bit of sweetness but it doesn't pronounce itself until the dry down. That is where the true magic of this perfume happens. Once dry, you begin to smell the sweet pistachio cream and vanilla. You can also pick up the glazed rose, but it pronounces itself like candied flower petals and very sugary. It is long lasting on the skin but lingers even longer on my clothes, handbags, and pillow (yes I wear perfume to bed).
Irresistible Nectar is such a pretty fragrance and a really great take on sweet pistachio without being too nut focused. I like to wear it during the day but I do believe it would be perfect for the flirty, soft, girly girls that really wanna make a statement and their presence known in a sweet and gentle way. It would be the perfect Valentine's Day for you, your bestie, or your mom!
