As a lot of you may already know, where I live I am very limited when it comes to buying natural hair products for my family and I. When I saw this new brand at Shoppers Drug Mart a few weekends ago I decided to see how it would benefit our hair. Did I mention that it is a vegan brand? That's right, you won't find any harsh chemicals in these baddies so they are super safe for my natural hair girls. Let's get into this reviews!
I have been using it for a few weeks now on both mine and my daughter's hair. Her hair has had the best response to it so far. It has help with relieving her dry scalp and keeping her hair nourished. I definitely need to go back for the conditioner. My daughter's hair needs to be styled once a week and moisturized 3 to 4 times a week. So the oil mist is very helpful. Whether her hair is braided or in puffs, spraying this mist helps keep it healthy and from drying out.
As for my hair, it is a bit more complicated lol. At the moment, my hair is more on the damaged side. I am also 6 months pregnant. So my hair is growing but my ends are tangled and split. I need a lot more help than my daughter does. The shampoo has helped with my dry scalp as well but my ends are still extremely tangled and damaged. They need to be trimmed and treated asap. (Leave a comment for some great detangler sprays for natural hair). The mist I use every couple days, I never like over doing it with products in my hair. These products smell like coconut and fruits, such a sweet and lovely smell.
Overall, I can say that Maui Moisture is working well for my daughter's hair mostly. Since my hair needs repairing, I can't judge it fairly. I would definitely recommend you head to your local Walmart or Shoppers Drug Mart to try these out. I grabbed them for $9 a piece but the price has gone up a bit. Still, very affordable and worth the try.
The weather is finally getting warmer which means time for NEW makeup and lots of decluttering from the previous year. All of the foundations I own are full coverage and I decided to start adding some light, sheer, and medium coverage ones for those light and quick days. Not to mention I am a mother, so it is mandatory to have a foundation for on the go applications.
Cushion foundations are a Korean beauty trend that reached the Western world in 2015. Laneige, a Korean brand, released some of there products in Sephora and many companies took a hint from them. Cushion foundations make for easy and quick application and a natural finish. Loreal was the first drugstore brand to get in on this and now Maybelline has joined the bandwagon.
I have been a fan of Maybelline since high school so it only made sense to pick this beauty up. I also know the shade Caramel always matches me. So it wouldn't be super difficult to figure out a match. The consistency of this foundation is thin but it has a light to medium coverage. It feels so light on the skin and leaves a dewy natural finish. If you have oily skin like me you will definitely have to use a primer and setting powder. I never leave the house without using either of these products.
I have used both a beauty sponge and foundation brush with this product. It looks amazing with both, giving me fresh looking skin in an instant. I guess my only issue would be there is only 1 shade after Caramel. So not all my black sister can enjoy this foundation. But it is a drugstore foundation so we aren't surprised anymore.
I recorded a first impressions video, including some other drugstore spring goodies, and it should be up on my channel within the next few days. So look out for it.
P.S. How do you like my new page layout, fancy huh? 😉 See you next time beauties!!
I have been complaining about not having enough lashes to rotate through in my collection. It really is key to have a pair in a few styles to give you a different look for different events and occasion. I have also been wanting to update from cheap, beauty supply store lashes. No shade to them at all, just a personal accomplishment for myself.
You can imagine my excitement when Tayylor Lloyd on YouTube announced the relaunch of her eye lash brand, Your Lash Bar. A mix of human and synthetic hair makes these lashes super soft and affordable. Only $6 US a pair! The amount of quality in these lashes you would think I pair $10 and up for them.
I bought the Dirty Martinis, applied them with my Joe Fresh Lash Adhesive and wore them for a whole day. I did not even feel them, I had to keep checking my mirror to make sure the wind didn't blow away. Light as a feather and so fluffy. I cannot wait to purchase the rest of her collection.
As of right now she only carries 3 lash styles, but promises to release more soon. Now you know what I am going to say, black businesses matter. Show Tayylor your support by purchasing a few of her lashes!
